Why the Wii indeed. In all honesty it is a good question, especially when you take into account the mind-boggling array of worthy systems out there, most of which boast a better library than the diminutive Wii…or do they?

Although generally regarded as a retirement home for mini-game compilations and shovelware, the Wii actually has an impressively diverse and interesting software catalogue, and this is probably where my affection for it begins. While Sony and Microsoft fought out an arms race of quite epic proportions, Nintendo spent the seventh console generation pursuing a cheaper, more accessible alternative, and this made for some fantastically whimsical releases.

And that’s likely what I’m going to concentrate on with this blog, the curios that I feel deserve a bit more of the limelight. Oh, and there’ll likely be a worrying number of words on the ever-popular Wii Shop music, the quirky channels and the goofy Mii avatars (that we all take for granted now), because why not.

So if you’re interested in slightly long winded, at times rose-tinted musings on all things Wii, this might just be a place you enjoy…
